General Overview

The IHSGCA Hall of Fame represents one of the highest honors in Indiana junior golf and we want this to continue to represent the best possibible candidates that our state has to offer. The IHSGCA inducts candidates into the Hall of Fame at that fall banquet and the spring banquet. The guidelines below explain what qualifies a candidate for possible induction into the Hall of Fame. If you know of a deserving candidate, please send the necessary information to the Hall of Fame Chair(s). Their information is below as well. The Hall of Fame Chair(s) will look over the information and present the candidates that qualify to the Executive Board for approval.

Hall of Fame General Overview

The IHSGCA needs your help and support! Your association's Hall of Fame represents, and must continue to represent, one of the highest honors in Indiana junior golf. The IHSGCA inducts candidates into the Hall of Fame at that fall banquet and the spring banquet. At these banquets, the inductee is introduced and acknowledged, and receives their Hall of Fame plaque. Another Hall of Fame plaque will be put on display at the Indiana Golf Association in Franklin, IN. The guidelines below explain what qualifies a candidate for possible induction into the Hall of Fame. If you know of a deserving candidate, please send the necessary information to the Hall of Fame Chair(s). The Hall of Fame Chair(s) will look over the information and present the candidates that qualify to the Executive Board for approval.


Hall of Fame Criteria

Coaches

A coach must be retired from coaching, a member of his/her community in good standing, and meet 3 of the 5 qualifications to be eligible for nominations.

Eligibility is not an automatic acceptance.

Coach Qualifications
  1. 15 years of active coaching
  2. 150 non-invitational wins (dual – 3-way matches)
  3. Two golf coach testimonials (contemporaries or colleagues) and two former players testimonials
  4. 6 regional appearances by a team or 3 state appearances by a team
  5. 30 top 3 in regular season invitational or 10 invite wins (at least 5 teams or more).
Players

A player must be out of high school golf for at least 10 years and a member of his/her community in good standing, and meet 2 of the 3 qualifications to be eligible for nominations.

Eligibility is not an automatic acceptance.

Player Qualifications
  1. One golf coach/athletic director testimonial (contemporaries or colleagues), one teammate and/or one fellow competitor’s testimonial.
  2. Be a member of the all-state team 3 years or placed in the top 6 in the state finals at least 2 times.
  3. At least 10 top 2 finishes or 5 medalist finishes in regular season invitationals (at least 5 teams or more).
Non-Coaches or Non-Players

If you are interested in nominating someone for the Hall of Fame as something other than a player or coach, please do. The criteria for this would be to submit at least four letters on the nominee’s behalf from various people. These letters should explain how the nominee made contributions to high school golf in Indiana that went above and beyond and why they are deserving of being inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Special Notes:
  1. One female player will be inducted at the fall All-State banquet. The application deadline to get all necessary paperwork will on August 15th.
  2. One male player will be inducted at the spring All-State banquet. The application deadline to get all necessary paperwork will on March 15th.
  3. All coaches must be nominated with all completed paperwork turned in by the deadline of August 15th. If the coach is selected for induction into the Hall of Fame, the coach will choose which banquet they will be inducted in at.
  4. Once someone has been nominated, their nomination will be considered every year.
  5. The IHSGCA Executive Board reserves the right to modify these requirements based on extenuating circumstances.

Necessary Elements

  » A letter of recommendation from the nominating individual.
  » A résumé of candidate's tangible achievements (past through present).
  » Testimonial letters from players, coaches, or golf professionals.
